Short description of expertise and experience:

Formed in 1995, Key Industrial Software Systems limited is a software development and management consultancy company. The company develops software and provides services, both nationally and internationally to a diverse range of organisations. These services include software development, research & development, project management, and training services. The majority of the company´s clients are small manufacturing companies.

Company services involve the use of computer-based technologies to enhance the business perfomance of manufacturing companies. This involves many different topic areas including Information technologies, Business Management, Quality, Environment, Measurement Technology, Production Management, Personnel Management and Training.

In the course of it´s business activities, the company has been involved in European Coomission projects aimed at improving the competetiveness of industrial companies. Examples are:

 

IMPRO (EP 25778): A demonstration action, showing the benefits of Information Technology in supporting the management of    environmental and quality systems in small companies. The result was a software system and methodology. The software is currently undergoing further development into a commercial product.

DECIDE_IT (EP 23707): A best practice actions for manufacturing SMEs, in which a system was developed for capturing knowledge for solving a variety of different problems. The result was a problem-solving tool, which has been further developed into a commercial product.

 

The company has recently launched a software product, called "Key Decision Tree", aimed at the small company market. "Key Decision Tree" provides a simple framework to facilitate the development of problem-solving systems. These can be used to provide wide availability of knowledge for solving varieties of different problems. This product was based on the results of the DECIDE-IT project.

Another major product is "Key Jobflow", which is a customisable software system to manage orders from quotation to delivery and payment. This system is aimed at small maufacturing companies.

 

Main area of interest within the PICK project:

The main area of interest within the PICK project is the further building of know-how in knowledge based mehthods and tools, improved offers in supporting enterprises to inrotduce modern ICT systems (knowledge based systems for process improvement), as well as potential products and especially the potential to offer their services to customise tools.
